Getting your book published
Don’t give up after the first rejection, but know when you get many rejections means it’s time to try again with a new book.
Taking young children to an art gallery
Arrange a babysitter or be prepared to take them outside for a break, also be prepared to spend a lot more attention on them than on the art work.
Getting over a broken heart
Find something that makes you happy, settled or calm, something that is a treat for you without being too damaging, do that when it’s feeling hard.
Best advice received
At a recent funeral someone suggested living like you had one minute left of life, I don’t think we have to be that frantic but I appreciate the underlying sentiment of making moments count, enjoying the moment you’re in, doing what matters.
Would like advice on
Reducing the amount of screen time my kids have.

Tell them that the best pictures are in their heads , buy them some decent books , read to the younger ones , make the sourcing of the books a family expedition . When they go batsh*t , pull out the plugs on the t.v , computer , etc. and lay down the law in a quiet , calm , reasoned way thus ; Tell them it isn’t open to negotiation , that you are the boss and that if they don’t run with your suggestions that you are going to bin the t.v. set . If they start the ” wailing and gnashing of teeth ” routine , play some AC/DC really loud ’till they calm down. As an interim measure , you could cut off the plugs just to show them that you mean business . Don’t give yourself any unwarranted heartache by commencing with this programme unless you are serious about seeing it through to fruition . Hereunder , some food for thought and best of luck , hope my words aren’t too heavy ; they are well intended . david byrne.
